We give the Pinky Farrell and Jim Hutchinson Award to the people who most represent the heart of the race. Pinky Farrell was the mother-in-law of Laura Farrell, our original race director and the founder of Vermont Adaptive. Jim Hutchinson was the Race Director of the Vermont 100 for 8 years. They both truly believed in the event and the cause. They went over and above every expectation to make the event safe, fun and successful.

“When we think about the concept of what it means to represent the heart of the VT100, there are two people who immediately come to mind,” remarked VT100 Race Director Amy Rusiecki at this year’s pre-race meeting under the big top tent.

Krista and Guy Alderdice have participated in the VT100 an astounding number of times; fundraised extensively for Vermont Adaptive; and helped out in many ways behind the scenes.

“Both ooze passion, dedication, and love for the Vermont 100!”

Course Help: This power couple has helped marking a section of the course for over a decade now, also helping out with trail checks and making course markers and chem lights for the race.

Fundraising: As multi-year members of our Team Run 2 Empower, they have fundraising over $40,000 combined for Vermont Adaptive! This kind of generosity from their network truly improves quality of life, allowing more youth and adults with disabilities to gain a measure of self-confidence and independence through participation in adaptive outdoors sports programs.

25 Finishes: This year, at the 2026 VT100, they also achieved an incredible combined 25 finishes at the VT100. Guy earned his 1,000-mile buckle and Krista finished her 7th VT100-mile, adding to her 8 prior VT100 mile-ride finishes (including a win!).

… Guy and Krista in fact love the VT100 community, and the area of Vermont its run in, so much that they literally moved on-course (… just down the road from many people’s favorite aid station, Bill’s)!

“If you’ve been fortunate enough to spend time, or lucky enough to share miles with Krista and Guy, you know their enthusiasm for and support of the VT100 is remarkable. These two exemplify belief, dedication, and of course, the heart of the race!”, concluded Rusiecki.
